Thanks, Gents. Neptune, I was really impressed with Rick's Colburn, as well. He did a great job on it, and I really got a kick out of seeing what he came up with from the modular parts.

Yeah, me too. You could attache virtually any nacelles to that and there's no way that you could not say that that was not a workable design, or engineering possibility,

Unless you were Gene Roddenberry. He was known for his dislike of Franz Joseph's ship designs in SFTM. Some people said it was because he didn't make any money on them...

No new photos yet, but the runabout is almost finished. I've been delayed quite a bit due to work and family stuff, but am coming along nicely, now. My second test build helped me find a few more flaws that needed correcting, but now I am starting Beta #3, so I can check the fit on the warp drive parts, including the warp engines, and the clamping straps. I found out that it was a bit pot-bellied, so I shaved off some depth, but it required reworking every section of the model to some degree. Fun, fun, fun! Hopefully pics will be posted on my blog by tomorrow evening.

Looking forward to it...
You're putting a lot of thought and effort into getting this one right.
That's really cool. Can't wait to see the next pics... The DC

Thanks, DC. I'm hoping to get back to the test build tomorrow night. I got slammed with work the last few days and haven't gotten anything done lately.

Wow, almost a month since I posted anything on this project. I hate it when the real world messes with my modeling projects.
The basic model of the runabout is now finished. I'm still working on finalizing the assembly sequence and numbering parts accordingly. I am also still working on the new sensor pod. It's requiring a bit more innovation than was involved in the rest of the model, as it involves a lot of compound curves, and I don't have Ninjatoes' engineering to fall back on as I did with the rest of the project. I'll have pics up on my blog soon at www.theroscofiles.blogspot.com Peace, PDM |
