Jays B5 Station Build

After watching some B5 on video, I got the urge to build a B5 model. Was gonna build a ship but then decided to give Jay's Babylon 5 Station a go. Armed with only a couple of pics and a schematic I got busy cutting, folding and gluing.

After a couple of hours I got parts A - G together, the end of the station.

Kind of reminds me of a light saber hilt.

A little while later I rolled up parts H - L. Will attach to end later. Wonder how long the Station will end up being, only about a third of the way in and it's already almost a foot long.

Let me know what you think, cause I'm still new to paper modeling. All comments and feedback most welcome.

Rick

I've not done that one. It looks really good. You are keeping everything nice and straight.

Did Jay ever get his downloads working again?

The first three center pieces of the station went together well...

Kinda looks like an Olympic torch at this point.

Middle section done. At this point I realized I need some kind of display stand. Was first thinking about hanging the completed model but then decided on a base with uprights. I have a few ideas, will let you know what I come up with.

@Vermin_King: Glad you like it and no Jay's downloads are still broke. I managed to find this on a different site, forget which one. Been to so many.

@Neptune: If you look closely you will see your lab computer in the background. Have a tendency to have multiple builds going at one time so I wont get burned out on one build. That way I can take a break from one so I wont make to many mistakes.

I can totally relate to that one. Currently working on a SEV ship for my son, the blasted AC130 Gunship, that was supposed to be done today, and a little Canon animal (to restore sanity). Just finished a test build for a member here, and I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it yet.

Stand Design

Yesterday I worked on the stand that I thought might work. Let me know what you think.

This is what I'm going to use for the top.
Jays B5 Station Build-b5-stand-png.jpg

Here are the sides. Decided to add part of the opening monologue from the 2nd season.
Jays B5 Station Build-b5-side-long-png.jpg Jays B5 Station Build-b5-side-png.jpg Jays B5 Station Build-b5-25-png.jpg

Was not going to add anything to the bottom but them decided to pay homage to Jay so I added his disclaimer to the bottom.

For the uprights I decided to do it old school, I used a compass, pencil and ruler. Yes that's right I didn't use my computer for this part. I'm not a fan of Photoshop, I do most of my work in Microsoft Paint. It might be an old program but that's what I'm used to. I do use Paint Shop Pro 8 for some things, I just find it quicker to use Paint.

I like the stand. But "Peace" is mis-spelled in the line "The Babylon Project
was our least, best chance for Pease"

I think I have All of Jay-Bat's toys.
What happened to Jay? He was a member here.

Doh! I hate spelling errors.

Don't know what happened to Jay. I really enjoyed his models.

Oops, never could spell very well. I reworked those sides more then once while trying to decide what to include and never noticed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I like Jays models too. One of the things I find helpful is that he overlaps the pattern on the glue lines. This made it a lot easier to know that thing's are lining up properly. At least on the station, haven't tried any of his others-YET.

Mav, B5 is looking beautiful, and your stand is brilliant!

I can't wait to see how it turns out.
