Shunichi Makino's updated TIE Fighter
It appears that Shunichi Makino has reworked his TIE Fighter model. It is very nicely done, but sadly it appears he does not plan to share it

That looks great. It's too bad it won't be available for download. Owell, it still looks great. Thanks for sharing.

I wish he'd left his old version up rather than have the download links point to the shorty robot, but it's his decision

That IS a nice upgrade. From boxy to curved lines. Very nice. Hopefully it will get released in the future

Don't count on it... I asked on his page for it on the FGsite and emailed him directly (in Japanese) and received no reply whatsoever. Shame, since he used to be willing to share everything he produced and this is some of his best work. Would have made a nice compliment to imcold's X-wing.

Nice, but as imcold is working on hie own TIE Fighter, which I'm sure will be every bit as good as his X-Wing, I don't mind that Shunichi is not sharing his. I don't really mind anyway, since (no offense intended to Shunichi) there are plenty of more accurate models of most of his ships already on the internet.

The proper links to the files seem to be :

Those are files for the original version. Good find, though.

Direct links? That can't be good. :(

Quote:
A). People will download the model by the hundreds, or even the thousands and very few have the courtesy to even say thanks. B). Someone takes the model and hosts it somewhere else and takes credit for your work. C). You get inundated by rivet counters and "Know it alls" that say it isn't accurate, why didn't you do this, or do it this way, why didn't include this, or that, or another thing.....???? D). Someone takes your work and bundles it with others and tries to sell it on-line and profit from your kindness and hard work. E) The same people that take your work, send e-mails to Lucas-Arts and you end up with a C&D and are threatened with a law suit. I'm pretty sure that all of this has happened to this gentleman. I do know he had to take everything down from his site for some time thanks to a threat from LA. Last edited by Neptune; 01-28-2012 at 11:38 AM. Reason: Gramer mkanix |
