This a great idea. I'll watch with interest. I've often thought a paper model of the Skull Island gate would be interesting, but the log scene was one of them movie's best, so why not?

Any honor of Willis O'Brien gets my support! But why would you want to change the classic Kong face? Especially the one from the log scene, the "long" face. It was my favorite of the two.

i thought i would use pic #4 for the log face and then maybe the offering scene, the gate busting scene, and then the empire state biplane ripping apart scene.
i like the skull island scene too, the huge gate is very impressive.

What about a forced perspective 3D diorama from the end of the log perspective...just like in the movie? Layer Kong with successive elements and place the hapless sailors on the log. You can use a curved background to simulate the effect of a POV movie screen.

you mean like willis's glass paintings?

so looking at it would be the forecliff, log, sailors, log roots,
kong, trees and bushes, barckground trees
and a curved long distance jungle and island?
already working on it!
thanks!

This has the makings of something really cool! Need some help with the graphics? For instance, I could do a rework of Bruce Cabot in the cave beneath Kong.
