Is Zosho's version really that bad? I just added it to my "short-list" build pile - ie, I've rescaled it, rearranged the parts, and am ready to print. It seemed to be the right choice to print in scale with my other 1:1700 fleet. Assuming the generous size of 170m (some references show it smaller than 120m), its still only a 10cm long model.

I found it to be a bit fiddly, with very thin parts and lots of edge gluing. My son, on the other hand, who builds the gaming-scale TOS ships by the bucket-load, had no issues with it. It IS a bit boxy, but for the scale it's could be a LOT worse.

Given what I have seen of the detail and effort that you put into your models, Christine, I can not imagine anyone complaining!!!!
Especially if you add the shuttle bays [Pythonesque hint-hint, nudge-nudge!] If anyone needs to see the detail and caliber of Christine's work, just check out her voyager and most recent Alice!!! Slainte, The DC

I love to make textures, trying to realize as much details as possible. When I was a little child, I was delighted by perfectly build models of opera-scenes (my father was a musician at an opera house) and I guess this kind of feel and look is still inspiring me. I want to have the "real" look, and thatīs why I use lots of effects to try to bring flat colors to "life" and why I never use fold lines (because they destroy the illusion...). On the other hand: there is no STAR TREK reality - apart from in our heads - which means the whole thing with the model constuction is to find the right balance between the idea, the material and the look, and itīs there itīs going to be exciting... Greetings, Christine
