What is this then for something completely different?

A big white box.

Which evolves into a big white pair of binoculars!

My first 1/1 scale model, Paper-Replika's Scout/Storm Trooper binoculars. More pictures of the evolution progress are in this gallery: Album 1 Gallery 64 Completed Builds Total Annihilation Papercrafts

Fun to build and doesn't use a lot of ink.

As a star wars costumer, I have been looking at this build for a while, just never decided to tackle it. I was thinking of using the general build of this model for my sandtrooper binoculars with some more durable materials added on for trooping.

It's very nice to a step by step of doing this. You've talked me into it. I'll build this as the prototype and go from there. Thanks for the insight.
