Zousho Defiant Class - 1:1700

This was another quick diversion from the F-35A model I'm working on. I scaled this up to my best estimate of a 1:1700 model of the 170m measure of the Defiant, but after the build was complete, the 9cm model turns out to be 1:1700 of a 153m ship. Good enough for this quick build.

I noticed in looking around that there aren't any (that I found) build threads outlining the whole build process for this model. There were a couple parts that had me scratching my head for a few minutes so I figured I'd take pics as the build went along. Hopefully this will help others build this later.

Also, for some reason, though I've seen registry markings on other builds, my version of this kit has no USS Defiant or NX-74205 markings on it, so I guess this is just a generic Defiant Class ship.

I did mess up the forward hull - I didn't cut out the slivers in the sides and the hull subsequently didn't get the forward nose-down shape it should have. Guess those slivers were more important than I realized...

Anyway, more pics, less talking. Here we go:

Very nice. Looks real good. Is it the camera angle or does it seam like the nose is a bit big.?Just an observation on the design not the build.

The nose is a bit big. Definitely a quick design, purposed to be half the size of this model to display alongside larger ships. I'll probably build the re-draw of Ninjatoes' version sometime soon. That'll be a challenge at this scale.

Doesn't the Ninjatoes model have fit issues? I heard that from somewhere and that's the only reason I haven't built it. Btw lovely clean build Cmags.

No fit issues that I saw - other than the fact that I neglected to cut out the little slivers up front to allow the nose to curve downwards. But otherwise, the fit was quite excellent all around. Its all edge-gluing, so I made some glue tabs in key spots, but it went together quite easily. Only took me one day, working on and off throughout the day.

Sorry, probably not had enough caffiene today but are you talking about the Zousho or Ninjatoes Defiant?

Talking about the Zousho Defiant - the one I built in this thread. I saw no fitment issues - it went together quite nicely. The only mistake I came across was my own, other than the nose being too large, which is a design error.
