Amber's Air ship

Her is the start of a simple (I hope!) model of a fantasy air ship drawn up by my daughter Amber. I am done with the digital except for the engines. I will work up the parts soon.

Very nice design! Will you do the unfold with petals or with rings?

I think it will do alright with rings. The lines can be scored to imitate the framework of the air ship. I used rings for my Civil War USN Ketchem Hand Grenade (sake shape) and it worked, although I left the rings connected. On this I will leave them as separate rings with tabs.

I can see that I need to work a lot harder at making things more simple.

Here is what I think the design is going to be like. It will be a pain with so many parts but it will give the shape Amber was wanting! I have not decided on a scale yet...

I think that works fine, Corey. It will only be 12 rings and should be simple to for and build.

That seems fine too me.. The correct shape would be more important to me, than the number of parts.. Very cool looking!!!

I think any contribution to the lighter than air cult is well worth having!

I agree, one can't have too many airships or zeppelins. Very much looking forward to the completed model.

We guys, she let me put the draft into the free downloads. It is in the sci-fi section, as soon as it is approved you can have it. The scale is 1/250 scale and it has two parts pages. Enjoy. Amber has a soft spot for airships, so expect more from her on this subject!
