Actually, the Crawling Eye is my absolute favorite from the old monster movie days. I'd love to see a paper model of that one as well!

Any of those "beauties" from that era would be cool with me.

Finished up adding the facial parts, with some additional detailing.. Plus added a coat of paint to the base, before adding ground cover. Lot of feet left to do..

Fine model and a great job at building it, Peter.
Loks very realistic compared to the movie version.

ground..

Nothing done over the weekend, as it was too nice out to be inside. Started on putting down some ground..

Here I mixed up a batch of CelluarClay (forget what it's really called) and laid it out in a rough pattern leaving room for the creature.

When dry, painted with a dark brown umber oil wash...

When that's dry, I dry brushed a yellow ocher lightly over the whole base. Shrubs and other stuff will follow later..

Also added the horns/feelers to the groovy creature. Plus slogging along on producing more feet.

This model is so good, it makes me laugh when I see it. Great job.

It's really coming along, Peter. I'm surprised at how accurate it is (although I shouldn't be with UHU designing) and how well it represents what little dimension the original had. Your base is perfect, but I can't help but smile at the fact that 56 years or so after the cheesy original was made (for almost pennies) that there are so many of us around willing to design and build and discuss this monster!
... still, the Crawling Eye would be different altogether.

The more I add to it, appearance becomes more like the film version (at least in my mind). Added some ground cover, and a little extra something in reference to the location.

Here's the feet, with only 4 more to make...

And a test fit to see how I like it so far...
