Venus Monster.."It Conquered The World"
Many thanks to UHU02 for making this available..
I thought I would give this a go, as I'm a big fan of the Sci-Fi/Horror films from that era. Plus it would get me out of my modeling rut that I've seem to have drifted into. (Never happens to others). Also I think it's cool that this was probably filmed right up the coast a little north of Malibu (Paradise Cove I think). Some of the background looks familiar. Love the heading on the poster... Anyway... Poster from the film.. Screen shot... Started.. always like it when I find a piece of pastel chalk that is just the right shade. |

I hope to do this one myself someday soon, but really glad to see you tackling it, Peter. This whole cave sequence was shot at Bronson caves up in the Hollywood hills. Shot there a couple of times myself. The monster was built by legendary low budget monster maker Paul Blaisdell and operated by Paul and a friend of mine, Bob Burns. Roger Corman had promised never to show the monster clearly, but I guess things worked out differently.
I'll be following your build closely. Good luck! Chris |

Ok, what did I do wrong? I downloaded it and the red shows up as gray tones. Yours looks alright.
Edit: Never mind, got it working now, PDF Reader wasn't showing the color on screen. Last edited by whulsey; 05-10-2012 at 09:47 PM. Reason: new info |

The red monster shown here has a lot of facial resemblance to a certain ex-mother-in-law.
So does the monster in the B&W photo. I'm not at all certain that's a memory I wish to perpetuate. :P On the other hand, seeing this build of Uhu02's very well designed kit will teach me how to manage some of the intricacies his models entail. Kind and Respectful Regards my friends, Uyraell.
