Kolywopter - Beta Part 2

David Church (Outersketcher) has been kind enough to ask me to continue with a beta build of his fantastic Kolywopter design.

You can find his design thread here Kolywopter and my beta build of the cabin here Kolywopter Beta (cabin)

This is my finished build of the cabin . . . now on with the rest of this fantastic fantasy flier.

I started with the tires as the instructions for this part of the model are included in the last set of files I received (part numbering still required). I built one with the included joining strips and tabs the other without.

The results are identical although the one with strips and tabs is a little sturdier, they are both good and solid. I prefer not to use strips and tabs but they are there and separated from the parts for those that want them.

A little trimming was required, probably my skill level, overall fit is very good and the instruction diagrams are very detailed. I sanded out my errors and with a quick spray of matte black paint I have very presentable tires.

nota bene: this is a beta build so no great enhancement or finishing will be evident.

So good to see that this project continues. This is one of the models I'm eagerly waiting to be finished and to get distributed to us. It's in the category 'Fantastic' and to me that is the most interesting and precious genre of modeling. ;-)

I'm actually making progress. Thanks to David I got some much improved instructions. The first picture shows that I placed the winch motor in the wrong place. This was caused by my own confusion over a previous set of instructions (inset). This is gone in the latest set.

The only other problem I have encountered - I can't find the part in red (inset) of picture #2.

The engine has a large number of complex curves on both the main body and inlet and outlet vents. I'm working on that now and will post pictures when I have something to show.

David - do you plan to add letter designators to the parts? (i.e. 140 would be an assembly and the individual parts would be designated a, b, c . . .)
