I know that the instructions are not that good. I too have had to "make things work (whether it was right or not).

No worries... that's what forums are about - sharing info and ideas.
Good luck with your build! Haven't had any time to do any building the past couple of days... will post pics when I can find some time to continue... Cheers |

Alrighty... did some more building today!
Finished up most of the build except for the wings... will do that tomorrow, hopefully. The front cones were very fiddly and I ended up skinning them twice - for some strength and most of all aesthetics. As the scale is smaller than the original, I opted to add only one layer for the cockpit windows - as opposed to two in the original template. Other than that, everything was pretty smooth sailing. Anyway, on with the pics... |

I am very impressed with your build. You did a GREAT job on it (considering the scale).
If I may ask, what are the dimentions of the final build at this scale? After I finish rebuilding my (ENTIRE) squadron, I might try my hand at this. Are you going to make any of the others in this scale as well?

Thanks!
Length is about 190mm... width, well, I haven't finished the wings, so not too sure but should be around 80+mm. Nah, like I said at the start of the thread, it's for a friend. Will be doing one in 1:144 scale for myself though - gotta rework the template to simplify the parts for it. In retropect, I should have used 160gsm paper though. |

Well... finished the build!
It was quite enjoyable and fun building this. In retrospect, I should have used 160gsm paper, but it came out ok anyway. The trickiest parts are the thrusters, the connection between the front and rear engine pods, and the front cones with the guns. If you want to try this, then pay more attention to these areas. Other than that, it is pretty much a simple build. Oh yes, you'll need to also ensure that everything lines up well too. |

Next is to rework the template and try for a 144 scale version.
Till next time... have fun and take care! |

AMAZING, absolutely AMAZING!!!
You did a FANTASTIC job on this model. If you did not have the scale bock next to it, I would have not believed that you reduced the scale. You did this model justice at this scale. The entire model looks very clean and crisp. I am looking forward to seeing at 1:44 scale.
