Machine Pistol, Buck Rogers, Han Solo..???

So, I was looking around the net the other day and stumbled onto some refs for the old Buck Rogers 25th Century Pistol and I noticed that it looked very familiar, then I noticed that it looked a lot like Han Solo's blaster, but there was something still nagging at my subconcious and it all clicked while watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie. It seems that all of the above were based on an old WWI, or WWII machine pistol. Has anyone around here got any history on this? I think it would make a great card model, especially if you made it so that you could build all three, or build your choice.... Thoughts?

For some time back in the mid 1990's the guys at the gun store I worked at would buy a bucket of these guns from over seas for something like $50.00 a piece. You needed 3-5 to have enough parts (some came incomplete and none fired "out of the box") to make a functioning gun, but with a little hard work and gunsmithing they were able to bring a few of these old broom-handles back to life. One guy even used his in a bowling pin shooting match and won. That little 7.62 (.30 cal?) bottle necked round had some zip to it. I should have ponied up the cash for one back then. I saw one a couple weeks back and the asking price was over $500.

Mauser C96 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is what you're looking for Neptune.

I'm sure there's a paper one available on the Papercraft Museum

PaperCraft Museum

About three pages in ... look for Mauser C96, the thumbnail isn't too clear.

Not too sure if this is a Pirate site or not, the mods have cut my links to it before, 'cos there's some UHU links on there.

Johnny.

Thanks, I did a bit of research and came up with some interesting pics and references and yes, it was the C96 model. I also found a model, have converted it, textured it and started the unwrap, pics to follow at a later date. I'm bouncing back and forth between computers right now....

I've got a friend that's a gunsmith, I'm going to have to check into getting one and having in machined.

Thanks John, I found that site and have found a model from one of my PC games that will make for a good start, still, thanks for the effort and the links.
