USS Rubicon - Star Trek Danube Class Runabout
Ninjatoes model, repainted by Paragon.
As a rest from building RWD-14 "Czapla". When Silveroxide was making his model of this ship, I decided that it would be a nice idea to have a Star Trek ship model and the Rubicon is very nice little fellow. I decided it was too large and printed with four pages on one A4 sheet, so I've no idea what scale it is in. 2 sets on 160g paper, one set immediately laminated with 0,5 cardboard. Edges cut at angle for a clean glued edge. Too bad there is no lines of the sheets of metal on the surface: It would be great to glue them on, to feel the texture of the ship surface, but Paragon repainting the model didn't think of adding them (hint, hint! ) So, the pictures: As I've made clear windows, there will have to be the cockpit and aft section made too. Definitely looking forward to this build, though why didn't you make the side windows clear?

Great start lehcyfer. I was looking at the cabin but something is not right about that interior. There is a passage way to the starboard side??
Here are a few interior shots, Hope you can use them. |

That's an exterior door, not a passageway.
Make sure you save digital copies of all your interiors, I might want to use them too... |

Well, looking from inside the side windows (at least the wider ones) look "shut" or their surface is used for a displays - they'd be 'blackened' in this mode. Don't know about the small ones though...
I don't think I'll make any digital versions - it will be a snappy scratchbuild - how much can one see through small windows anyway |

On with the build :D
Some insight into a technique of gluing parts laminated with cardboard: Cut the edge at angle and sharpen with a dremel tool. Or cut cardboard vertically (not through) a bit from the edge and remove the cardboard. They can be used intermittently - both work good, the second one - with practice - is easier, the first one is good for the edges, especially not at straight angles. Some parts to make and glue on Pretty, ain't she? |
