Yes, I've actually been working on it.
Yes, I fell off the map for a bit again. Juggling... alot of things right now.
BUT, I have managed to make substantial progress on Deck 8. Picture One: The finished garden area, water tanks and the beginnings of the computer core in the middle. One databank is in place. I had to custom create the databanks (screen accurate, too) on a pixel by pixel basis. I'm pleased with how well I've managed to capture that TOS aesthetic. Picture Two: Fore Emergency Transporter Room. Storage in front of that. Water tanks and pump machinery with a small bit of the garden area. Picture Three: Emergency Transporter Room 3 and Life Support, Pump Machinery, ect. Empty green center area is the Gymnasium and Showers. Extreme right is Recreation/Gathering room. Picture Four: From left to right: Water tanks, Pump machinery, Air Conditioning/Life Support, Water Modification/Purification Filters. Middle center: Emergency Transporter Room 2 of 3 on Deck 8 Picture Five: Closer view of Emergency Transporter Room 2, Life Support, Garden Area. Yes, there's some clean up that wants doing. Picture Six: Garden Area, Emergency Transporter Room 1, Storage, Water tanks to either side. Green recreation area to middle rear. Computer Core in center. Picture Seven: First Databank secured in Computer Core. Fore Port and Starboard Wall Mounted Databanks in place. Still have to do Aft WM Databanks, furniture, greebles. Picture Eight: Three Databanks in place. There will be four additional full sized databanks following the radius with a 1/2 length 'double' bank at Center Aft, since a full one will not fit due to Turbolift shaft. Oh, yeah... still have to finish that too. Yes, the ugly spots on the walls and whatnot will vanish on the final cleanup phase, which will also include edging the tops of the walls. Once the lights are installed. To do: Finish computer core databank installation, both floor and wall mounted. You have NO idea how irritating it was to replicate type 1 and type 4 computer consoles on a pixel by pixel basis. I'm certifiable, because most likely I'd be the only one to notice. Okay, maybe not. Install chairs/terminals/crewmen. Install/finish turbolift area. I'm very seriously considering making this particular one a 'cut away' view of the inside of the shaft and lift. It's one of the few places where the geometry of the ship will allow that. Finish extreme Aft connection to pylon. Glue Deck 8 to Pylon Assembly. Create gymnasium equipment. Create showers. Create toilets (those two small square rooms just outside of the Garden and in back of Emergency Transporter Room One). Create Food Service equipment. Create Ship's Laundry Equipment. Create conveyor belt from Food Service to Aft of Deck 8/Pylon Assembly. Install lighting along outer rim rooms. Install about a metric f-ton of tables and chairs in the main Rec Area. Install greebles. Lots and lots of greebles. Mixed media, layered cardboard/cardstock. Panels. Control panels. Access ports. A large screen in the Rec Area showing an episode of TOS. Seriously on that last one. I'm gonna sneak that in somewhere. Potted plants. A miniature 3D chess set. (hahahahaha, right.) And of course.... crewmen/women/aliens. So, lots done, lots to do. Hope this holds you over until next time, sorry I didn't have time for an "in character" update. Next time, I promise. Stay tuned, cadets. I'm actually going to finish this @#$%#!!! thing this time. -E

I'm sure you guys want to see something other than Deck 8, and I am eager to get on with other areas of the ship, but I have to do things in a certain sequence due to the support structure- I have to know just how much weight the whole saucer section is going to have in order to determine the angle that the support bracket has to be fixed at... and I can't do that until I actually build the thing(s). Also, if I jump around too much I won't get it done, so I'm doing one area/deck at a time so I stay on track. Believe me, I'm itching to get on with the nacelles and filling in the secondary hull. If it helps, I've already started to prototype the hull plating... which may well eventually include 'battle damaged' areas. Here, have a bonus post.

Bonus post at Rifleman's request. Also because I'm a nice guy.
As mentioned in the post above, this is my preliminary patterning and test of materials for the hull plating. I chose the Pylon structure due to the curves in this area and also because it's already built...
Keep in mind, this is incredibly rough for a reason. This was just a test, without any inner or outer 'pretty stuff' and not even clean, so don't judge too harshly. Picture One: Pylon assembly (minus Deck 8) w/o hull. Picture Two: Test Hull panel. Materials: Linen paper, craft foam and layers of Elmers. Seems to work well for holding shape and getting those complex curves. Picture Three: Fore to Aft view Picture Four: Closeup of the windows. Keep in mind this is a very rough prototype/pattern without any details. Just a test to see if the pattern and materials work. Picture Five: Closer view. You can see the inside of the Pylon Decks. Picture Six: The other side, showing interior of hull plate in relation to interior decks/window positioning. So, there you go. A sneak peek at the other side things I'm working on in spits and spats as I can. Heh. You should see my shuttlebay doors prototype. Maybe next time. -E
