Star Trek Mini Diorama / PR Models / 1:1000

Hi Friends,

It is unusual for me to have two projects at once. Even more unusual to build a free model. Still, as a teenager I was quite taken by the work of illustrator Franz Joesph who envisioned an entire fleet out side of what was show on the 1960's TV Series Star Trek. The Czech group of PR Models who produce models in the style of "Minibox" established by ABC Magazine have produced a fine series of ships drawn by Franz Joseph.

I have taken their original model and reduced it by 55% achieving (I think!) a scale of about 1:1000. I intend to show a couple of these ships, nothing major, just something to work on while I ponder the travels and ports of call of the SLOMAN ALSTERTOR.

So, a few background images and then I will start construction.

Beam Me Up,

Cris

So, beginning with the inter-modal containers:

Fascinating. I have version of those ships in various stages of completion, but mine are decidedly bigger. Looking forward to seeing more of your ships.

A great start, these models from Rawen have a great finish and what I like most is its simplicity, I have one under my belt without reduction in the scale (BoP TOS - Rawen) , continue watching your progress to the final finish, great choice.

Hi Rapidtox/Neptune,

Thanks for your kind words and support! Rapidtox, Do you have pictures of yours? I would love to see them!

Oh yes simple indeed. Perhaps 25 parts each ship. The SLOMAN ALSTERTOR by comparison, (That other model that I am thinking on) will exceed 2500 parts including its diorama.

But, never satisfied to leave well enough alone, I recessed the docking interface on the aftmost container and added the deflector dish to the forward container as reflected on the drawings.

Kind Regards,

Cris

Hello Friends,

The saucer section on the first ship is installed.

Kind Regards,

Cris

@Rapidtox: Thanks for the link to your thread! I always thought the Romulans were the most butt kicking of the bunch. Too bad my little convoy is on its way to reinforce several outposts skirting the Neural Zone
