Looks kinda like the DOVE from Doppelganger. Which was loosely based on the HL-10 Lifting Body.

It looks more like the Russian Spiral (MiG-105)

Well,

The Dreamchaser is based on the HL-10. In turn, the HL-10 was based on reconaissance photos taken by an Australian P-3 of a subscale prototype of the Mig-105 after splashdown.

Hi Dyna-Soar,

Well! You are just down 65 from me! I have a home in Nashville.

I would not dream of arguing with you (especially considering your namesake!) but are you sure about the HL-10? Could you give us a link?

Officially Northrup designed it.

Thanks,

Cris

The Mig105 EPOS "Spiral" is one paper model that seems to not currently exist.
Unfortunately, it is also one I'm keen to collect, along with any other aerospaceplane, be it real or fictional.

As far as I know, Dyna-Soar is correct about the HL10, and yes, that vehicle was designed by Northrop, however, there are a number of "urban legends" as it were that support the known data to which Dyna-Soar alludes.

While I too am no fan of communism, I'm also not about to discount the engineering skills the Russians have. Granted, it is often described as "Boilerplate Engineering" and was certainly so described in my youth.
But the fact remains it generally got the job done.
Just as often though, Russian engineering has an elegance of both design and function not often seen elsewhere.

There is no doubt in my mind that from time to time various designs from sources just as varied do end up in movies or TV shows, and can then be traced back to a real-world progenitor. Most of those also interest me, if only because they show the evolution of a given concept.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing this POTA (new) Icarus design evolve into another very collectable model.

Kind and Respectful Regards my friends, Uyraell.

Oops, I meant the HL-20! (Someone was talking about the HL-10 earlier and it kind of got stuck in my head :P )
