Thanks for the advice so far - but no joy.
I have found another way: I right click on a page numer, then >file as, and select a folder. It works.
I so far left clicked on a number, then the page opened, but did not appear to download. What was wrong about this!?

May I have another grumble? I bought my wife an iPad last Friday, the shop installed everything, we took it home - where it did find my Wifi but tells me the modem/router signal is far too weak - so it doesn't function. I am no more than 6ft away from the router, and my laptop works perfectly in the same position. All this on one day is enough to drive one crazy. Any advice to help me avoid a heart attack?!

If you click a file number, in this case a PDF file,
it will just load and open the PDF using your already installed
PDF program.

Then you need to "save" the PDF (look to the top left of the window)
otherwise it will disappear when you are done looking at it.

If you right click the file number (on Uhu's page) you can choose to
"save link as" (or something similar) and tell it where to save.
It will then just download the file as a PDF (or whatever it is) to the
location on your computer that you specified.

...

Not being an iPad expert, it sounds like you might not have connected to a
trusted network, like your Home Network.
Do you have a WiFi Home Network?
Do you have any other computers connected by WiFi already?
(other than your main computer that is connected to the router)
If not, then maybe you never created a Home Network that your iPad
can connect to.

UHU Space Station is Fantastic but...

Thanks to UHU for providing us with the space station Found it highly detailed and can't wait to build it. Only one problem though. File ssvop4.pdf keeps appearing as corrupted and cannot be repaired. This is the only file that has a problem. Have tried to download several times but keep getting the same error message. Any ideas on how to get it downloaded?

It's a large file 3136 KB.
I suggest you try to download it again.
I've done it now and it works perfectly.

Sounds to me that you need to use the same soloution that I am finding more and more vital as I get older ... Invite some Grandchildren to stay for a while. It's quite educational. How the hell they manage to do it without consulting any manuals really throws me though.

Johnny.

JohnM, Sound advice - but I called my provider, and they solved it for me. The modem / router needed replacing... So the problem is now solved.
