But you have more detail on it :-)
Just like yours I've printed out duplicate parts and for the larger flat panels it was simply a matter of cutting out the panel and and deciding if i wanted to add any more intents to it and then black edging them with felt pen then sticking it down. some I left at the base plate to add variance to the surface. and the occasional panel was glued on askew deliberately because, let's face it, the Falcon - structurally - is not in the best of shape.

On the kit there are small details on the panels and these were cut out from third or fourth copies and then stuck on to add yet more surface disruption and shadows. most of these were not edged.

Details that require greater height than the main armour plates then I'd rough cut the part out and then glue it to a glued stack of sheet to the required height and then cut out, and the sides coloured with felt pen of various shades. Components can be built up in this way of various layers of various thicknesses...

The single sheet thickness of the armour panels probably work better on my model for the simple reason of scale. My model is ALOT smaller than yours and so that single sheet is, to scale, a lot thicker. If I was making a Falcon the size of yours I'd probably be tempted to make them from 3-4 laminated sheets of 160gsm paper and possibly sit them off the surface by 1 or 2 sheets.

Where I didn't raise a panel I used a darning needle to score the panel lines to give it some definition.

The attached image is to highlight the scale difference between yours and mine.... :D (I must have a go at a falcon of that size. what size did you print it out at?)

:-) you did it the same way as i did..
except i glued all the panels...and the whole ship to cardboard from kellogs boxes.
that way the thickness of the panels was perfect.

your size is very difficult...i'm not that good at small scale..i'm still a padawan

i printed the falcon at work, we have an A0-plotter and that works perfect for the larger scale :-)
at the moment i'm working on a snowspeeder with a size of 1 metre

You have a really nice Falcon there, both of you!

I am impressed. My brother and me had once one made out of plastic. But this one is really cool!

Great job, Ohnhai!!

Radek

Ta.

I got to say looking at DNALOR's larger falcon the engineering of a paper studio scale (the 35" model) falcon is an enticing challenge... ESPECIALLY if you were to add an interior given the irreconcilable differences between the interior sets and the models.

(I can make an convincing argument that the gunpod sets had it right in regard to gun direction and it's the external models that have it wrong.....)

Don't forget you can use thin paper for 'paint thickness' lines and decals :D
