Designing a new USS Defiant papermodel

Hello!
Watching Deep Space Nine all over again after umm.. 3 years or so, I just had to make the USS Defiant. I built zousho's little defiant, but i scaled it up a bit. A great little model, but because of tha size, lacking some detail. The ninjatoes Defiant, or at least a repaint of it I tried, but there was a quite a bit of problems with the design, or maybe it's just me?

Anyway, I thought about making a Defiant of my own. I've got the nacelles pretty much ready, and now starting to do the main hull structure. I've studied the ship A LOT and done a couple of failed testbuilds. Learned of my mistakes, I think i'm now really on to something publishable. If anyone would share their knowledge and expertise on this ship, I'd be glad.

I agree

@Sisko

i´m a fan of clear lines and good textures, but the lines looks a bit aliased! maybe you can make they smoother or you can go higher with the resolution, then is the aliasing effect not so visible!
Fact: a good start for now!

Thank you all for your encouraging words!!

D-WHALE:
Yes the lines are rather.. crunchy :D And indeed when making models and retexturing, I'm am always trying to achieve that "realistic" and "close to the actual filming model/seen on screen" look. I doubt that i'm able to make the lines any more anti-aliased, but perhaps you could try some kind of retexturing or something similar what you've done with clever's excelsior/enterprise-b. We'll see..

Now I'm ready to do a test build with this thing.. see what fits and what needs to be adjusted. After the shaping, it's texturing!

I thought that! Try GIMP or Inkscape, both for free!
If you have a bit money search Corel Graphic Suite at Ebay! you dont need the highest version, X4 is enough and cost less than 100 Euros! Or you have skill in websearching

I use Corel Photopaint (it´s in the Graphic Suite included) for all my models and in my opinion I think it is better than Adobe Photoshop!
