Uhu's X-Wing Ready For Launch
Hi all,
I dunno if anyone's been following Uhu's X-Wing Fighter build threads over at Uhu02 for the last few weeks? I notice that he's now made the templates (all 12 of em!) available for download. I just cannot believe now fantastically detailed this model is. The guy is a bona fide genius. I just wish he could team up with a translator. Google translate just can't cope with technical and / or colloquial language. Anyway, it's well worth checking the model out - I may be good enough to even attempt it, one day Cheers, I. |

That is a great looking model and way beyond my skill level. One day O would like to try the Orion 3 if I could find a good model of it. Right now I knee deep into the C-47 of a mini diorama I'm building. The glider in tow id complete. I would have thought Uhu02 would have a Orion 3 there on his site. wc

Has anyone had trouble downloading page 17 of the "How to Make" section?

Trying to build the X-wing
I have started to try to build Uhu02's x-wing. This will be a rough build using normal card stock as apposed to using the recommended matt photo paper. This build will be to check that I understand his build instructions. He did make it a bit confusing when he changed his design half way through. I have already picked up 2 mistakes that I made due to this. Will post more pics as I progress.

x-wing wings completed
Here is the next stage in my build. The wing covers where not to difficult but I did pick up a problem with the ends. The covers seemed to be just a bit to long in that the edge of the frame is showing through the hole where the gun mounts are to be mounted. I will see what can be done to this when I get to that stage.

Body and guts completed
The next installment! Completed the small strip that fits on the main body after you have attached the wings. Quite easy. Completed the main frame of the body. Also not to bad after you have worked out how to do it. Then came the filling of the body with all the components. There are some rather small components here. What is nice with this model is that you can leave these items out and just close in the body with the cover. Only mistake I made here was when I glued in the section where R2D2 stands,(behind the cockpit), I did not check the fit beforehand. The result a section that does not sit straight. Next up the section that fits on the rear of the body and then the engines.
