well, my own effort at the shuttle looks pretty lousy. I posted a few pics on the Star Trek thread already.

I was thinking that balsa wood sheets might work for your shuttle too. thick primer wet sanded would smooth it out well, and then a light misting spray of white a few times and you got a winner. all my best stuff I ever came up with started out pieces of .........mangled monkey meat.......trying to avoid word that are probably banned.
I remember my very first try at a romulan bird of prey, it looked so great until I painted it silver, and it rippled. I was heart broken, but kept trying and trying until I can make them in my sleep now. the Jupiter 2 im working on now is the same way, I will keep trying though now, thanks to your posting this here, I don't feel like im all alone in the '' oh well'' world. |

Sometimes it's the "Oh H+ well" world isn't it? I did a Romulan Scout for one of my first efforts that was horrible...

I have some veneer and thin plywood stock on hand...wonder if it would be better? Laminate printed cardstock on it?

yes, or go get sheet 8''x11'' labels at the print shop or staples. print on to the label, and then apply to the cardboard or plywood chasis of the shuttle. the only problems I saw was the warbling from the wet paint. all the rest seemed fine.

Another thought would be foam core board, is light weight yet strong, and you can get large sheets from almost any store, such as dollar tree or the like, and of course Wal-Mart.
