Interestingly, the USS. Reliant was the first Federation Starship that I scratch built. I was 16 at the time Star Trek II came out and I built the model just a few weeks after I saw the premier.
Unfortunately, I no longer have it. Once I get the time, I will build this one.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

saw the pilot, my sister was 6 years older than me, and 2 years ahead in school than her own age group, so we had in our 1967 front room, high school age pretentious intellectual 2-3 guys, a couple of girls and me, who just loved v.t.t.b.o.t.s., stingray and lost in space and a new space ship show was coming on that was incredibly important to them. they were quoting various authors of the day, Isaac Asimov, and all the rest, and I had to shut up and sit and watch. I remember they all clamored at the opening credits, wondering what story line it was going to follow. I was hushed at a few times when I asked questions about the show, but after it had aired, the were all in wonderment about what this new tv show was going to do for sci-fi, little did they know about all this, the movies, tv series' ,the toys, all the books, the conventions and even a religious fervor about living the star trek way of life that would present itself in Vietnam, Russia, and now in china and the middle east, and tens of thousands of websites and data files on ships, uniforms, Vulcan weddings, etc!
so now, instead of westerns for the ww-2 generation filling the tube, its, paranormal and sci-fi on the video screens.
but back to the topic. I am still anxiously awaiting any new pics of the reliant, and wondering if any parts wont hold their own weight and will need special internal supports.
another villainous ship of khan has become so popular that it is ''khan's ship'' on first glance. perhaps the borg cube is more visually recognizable, but im sure that there will be quite a few mods and spin offs from this new large version. its good to see the designer coming across with a model that everybody has said that they wanted for years as far as I have seen.
more build pics! please!
