Star Trek TOS Phaser I and II

I've always wanted one, so I decided to "cut my teeth" in designing with that (this is my first time creating a design from scratch).

I started from the dimensions from the old Star Fleet Technical Manual (published back in 1975) and worked from there. Took a couple of tries to make all the parts work, but I'm really pleased with the results.

As I'm new at this, I probably did it the hard way as I just used MS Paint and a piece of open source photo editing software (paint.net) to create the design. The resulting file sizes are huge and I'm working on reducing them to a manageable size, but am having problems losing too much quality in the process. As soon as I figure that out, I will be sharing my design for any who want it.

But in the mean time, here is how my final build came out.
