Rocketmantan's TARDIS
You may or may not have seen the custom version of this model I did for my wife for Valentine's Day (what can I say, we don't exactly have a normal relationship).
She challenged me to build another one - only, this time, in the same scale as the R2-D2 from Uhu02's X-Wing. Challenge accepted. |

That is really cool! I like the interior addition. Very neat.

Nice rescale on a very fine model.

Is the larger model available somewhere?

I found it by doing a google search for "tardis paper model" but I know Rocketmantan is a member here, so he may have posted a thread with a direct link.
The small one is the exact same model (minus my own customizations), only printed 6 sheets to a page. Edit: here's a page linking to it: http://paperkraft.blogspot.com/2013/...apercraft.html |

All of RMT's models are on his Deviant Art account: RocketmanTan (Bryan Tan) on deviantART

Wow, that is AMAZING!
I might do a "deluxe" TARDIS model in the future, but this is just great!

I'm guessing you made the interior yourself? I checked rocketman's DeviantArt page, and his Tardis models don't have an interior.

I also cut the walls separately, then trimmed a bit off the left and right of each to allow for paper thickness, then added an interior tab at each corner for strength. The front wall and door have an extra layer on the back to make up some of the strength lost when the door is cut out. I tried to diagram these changes, not sure if it's needed or even actually helpful, but there it is. There will be another build, one the weather warms up enough for me to try coating the paper. My wife's a collector, so I'm hoping to give her a museum quality piece. I'm toying with adding another few pieces to the interior to increase the illusion of depth. Maybe cut out the interior floor, and then the center console. They'd still be a flat (or slightly curved) piece rather than a real folded-and-glued model part, but if I mount them in front of the background wall, I'm hoping it'll make the interior "pop" a bit more. |
