Pyro GX from Descent

Found a nice representation of the Pyro GX, the player ship from the Descent series of games!

Took a little bit of thinking for some parts of it (no .pdo file to reference), but overall not a hard build.

(There were suppose to be missiles to go with it, but they were pretty small to work with...oh well...)

Looks good. Almost looks like it would fit well in a 28mm RPG.

Wow! If that's the Becker Industries one, you have my utmost respect for figuring it out. Very nice

Thanks! It is indeed the Becker Industries one. It was basically the first result googling "descent papercraft" (how I found it), so if all else fails...

...one thing's for sure, I'll never take glue tabs for granted again...heh heh...

I'm afraid it would take me forever to figure this out, so if you ever build another one, how about doing a build thread. We always like seeing things come together.

This forum has a good picture of how the missiles and power-ups are build:

DescentBB • View topic - Paper Pyro

It seems someone also did a guide-bot and a drone

Very cool

I loved the Descent games. I still have an old computer around with Descent 1 and 2 on it that I ran in dosbox under Windows XP.

I have a collection of meshes that I always intended to turn into 3D models one day. I did up the attached model of the medium lifter a few years back. Someone requested it and I did a quick cleanup and unwrap of the mesh. Haven't built it myself yet.

Sure, I would be glad to make another one! It might be a weekend project though...depends on having "free time"...

One thing that didn't take much time though was that Medium Lifter! Thanks sjsquirrel for sharing that!

...Always an interesting (i.e. not pleasant) experience having those things sneak up on you...
