Resurgam #2: Roman Dropship

After much procrastination and stress, I've finally gotten around to designing the second installation of my "Resurgam" series. This time around it's a dropship-type vessel.

I tried to have the dropship be more like a precision-insertion pod a la WWII combat gliders or even the UH-1, hence its compact and squat design. The current 'theory' for the model is that it was designed for quick deployment of troops into a combat zone. With hardpoints dotting the sides of the vessel, missiles and precision guns can be installed quickly, turning the dropship into a close air support aircraft should the need arise. The craft seats about 10 legionnaires and can launch countermeasures such as flares or chaff to help deter any enemy fire the ships might encounter.

Anyways, have some pictures as always.

Rough silhouette sketches to get a general feel of what the ship would look like (note the reference pics of the Mi 24 Hind. )

Working profiles of the ship:

And the drawn pages (it's...depressingly simple.)

Very neatly done, Bryan my friend.
It is as simple and blunt as it should be.
Form follows function in the Roman world ( or at least, according to their ancient writings it does) and so this dropship looks to my eyes exactly as it should, and there is nothing "depressing" at all about it, imho.
I look forward to the evolution of this series and concept.

Kind and Respectful Regards Bryan my friend, Uyraell.

Vary nicely done Bryan. A fine addition to the Roman Empire. Looks like it would drop quite nicely, all I can say is everybody onboard better hold on tight, cause its' gonna be an E-ticket ride.

Thanks for sharing, always enjoy dropping by your diviantart site for a look around.

Best Regards,
Rick
