Jan, I've admired your projects for years, but haven't been brave enough to build them. I've always liked the Aliens Dropship, and even bought one of the Micro Machines models eons ago. I play tabletop Battletech (1:285) and some large-scale Battletech (28mm/1:40). As far as scale goes, you could go really crazy, and build it in 1:12, just the right size for GI Joe, Star Wars, and other 3 1/2 inch action figures (can you imagine Imperial Stormtroopers versus Aliens? Wookies versus Predators? Aliens coughing up Wookie hairballs?)

Whatever scale you settle on, the whole thing is going to be awesome.

Actually, 1/12 scale would be 6" action figures. Unless your GI Joe only stands 3 1/2 feet tall (-=

Star Wars Action figures are 3 3/4" and are 1/18 scale, though 1/16th scale would probably be close enough for playing with.

Or go the other way, and build 1/6 scale for Barbie, the large GI Joe and other 12" figures (-=

Cheers,

John Gay

You are correct! That's what I get for posting late at night. I meant 1/18. 1/12...Holy cow.

after some break we are her with some update
..Iīve optimalized the front of the pod. There are lots of reference photos about the shape and look. My creation is some sort of mix of all of them

another four holes of rocket launcher?

rear of the pod - booster rockets exhaust

The rockets:
There were lots of reference materials also, but when i first saw real rockets for 1:1 dropship instalation, I decided to make closest look possible.
Prop model rockets are lil bit simplified...have a look

and finally the rocket pod full of upgraded stuff

have a nice day....

Filling front rocket pods

Iīve created the front pods armament. Some sort of inteligent bombs, collared rocket and old known rocket launcher.

according to movie...two ships, different group of rockets:
left side

right side

from now on the dropship is "fully loaded"

Interesting to see the weapons loads are not symmetrical on the front wings .
