One idea of adaptive suspension for APC...

a) realized with spring
b) realized with gum

keep in mind that this is an idea only and the real paper model can be realized differently

Fascinating scetches Jan! Looking back at the studies you showed I think that this vehicle would have problems with modern street curbs in both cases. :D I think the only thing you have to consider is what's the ground clearance needed to get it down the ramp of the dropship. And it's not about the clearance only, it's the angle of the 'nose' etc.

Those drawings are great but they depict a working suspension. Adjustable would mean to me to be able to lock in selected height.

Stay true to movie stills is my advice - that's the only reality these props had in their lifespan. ;-)

When I built my version of your APC, I did plan on doing a steering system similar as you depicted but since I detailed the interior, I could not use that steering linkage since it would interfere with the interior details. I made each wheel independent of each other. Thanks for sharing and for you insight building process.

OK lets take a break from the APC and focus back to the dropship

I found this pic on the internet in las few days and it helped me a lot....

How looks the front section of the APC hangar(bay) I finally know . I´ve rebuilded the model and ....there will be slightly different shape in the front section.

and then....I began to reshape the nose...8 hour of work and there is nothing to look at.. :D

And....a video capture of the whole thing

That view makes the scene where the dropship pilot gets it make more sense. I always thought that the pilot cabin should be sealed off from the bay, but that obviously isn't how the designer envisioned things.

it´s nice that the ALIENS designers thought about it. There is exist really nice ORIGINAL ALIENS COCKPIT blueprint,
where the preassure door for cabin exist...same door is opening in scene where Ferro talk trough radio to the Spunkmeyer and then turn around and alien appears.

...something from the APC box

two versions of the wheel (the left one will be greater challenge)

Rough shape of the carrier...

time between shooting of the last two pics is 3 hours....seriously ..no kidding

research of the movie prop photos, heat (33°C in the building without arconditioning), lassitude ...all is counting...UF
