1/80 Starslayer 'mech

I thought I'd share a few pics of my recently completed Mech Commander II Starslayer battlemech designed by vlmarshall and available for free download over at the mechwarrior3 community project forum.

I've built about a dozen of these MC2 'mechs, and each one has given me hours of modelling pleasure. They're well designed, with not too many parts for a lazy modeller like me. The skins aren't too exciting by today's standards, but they're taken right from the vintage game, and illustrate the improvement of graphics in the gaming world over the years.

In the Battletech universe, the Starslayer was a medium weight 'mech of 50 tons. It was armed with 2 large lasers, a SRM 4, 2 medium lasers, and a single small laser. I can't find the small or medium lasers on this kit, or on the die cast mini.

I modified the skin by adding the insignia of the 1st Battlemech Rgt, and the serial # 02. Other than those small changes, it was built stock. Everything fit perfectly, as I've come to expect with vlmarshall's models. June has been a prolific month for me. Enjoy the pics.

That actually was my first ever paper model! And if you were wondering where the lasers where, the game didn't show those either.

That's a pretty darn nice looking build - especially since it was your first card model. The MC2 models aren't overly challenging, but there's just something about them that makes me want to build more.

I should rebuild it some day, in the same scale as my Champion and Hellhound.

Thanks, Blaar. I built Whammy's Marauder at about the same time. Thread in here somewhere.
