I meant "Great work so far." Typed too fast late at night and auto-correct stepped in and I didn't notice.

Looks great so far Nando! I have always loved 2001 and all of its spacecraft! I must have seen this movie at least a dozen times in 70 MM alone...Not including all the times on DVD! If I wasn't busy with the projects that I'm currently working on now I would build one also! Nice work!

Thanks Corvettenutts, I'm still astonished for your LM and CM: keep them up.

And now more seats

There is a seat reserved to Dr. Heywood R. Floyd ...

All seats done !!!

About the attention of uhu02 to details, here you can see that the seats of the last row haven't the flat screen ...

... and the screen, on the backrest of the seat in front of Dr. Floyd , is still displaying the program he was looking at ( when sleeping )

Now I completed the easy part, though boring. Next, there's the steps that I fear: the completion of the central part of the hull. Here I have to fit the parts inside with the external body and i have to match the windows with the external side holes and the internal ones.
There is also the hypothesis to mount inside some LEDs ...

Best, Nando

It's hard to see something inside with normal external lights ....

... But with some light inside we can start to see something

It's holiday time here in my town and many stores selling the electronic components are closed. I have to wait a week or two for buy and install the LEDs.

Best, Nando

i have a thought, maybe try glow wire instead of LED's they are not as bright but you could rig it to look like FL tube bulbs in the ceiling.

What about EL strips (electro luminescent strips) or EL tape? You could glue or tape it to the ceilings and it would look like minuature ceiling lights.......

Thanks for the hints Wulf111 and vulcan8630.

The idea is tempting, but I have some doubt if it could work at this small scale.
For both, the problem is, i think, in the length of the wire/strip. You can cut them at the length that you need, but the driver for the shorter wire is for 15' (!?).
The passengers cabine of the Orion is long 7 cm. Also doubling the wire we have a total length of 15 cm (0,52'): too short.
There is another issue, maybe, the thickness.
We have a thickness 1,5 mm for the wire and there's a room of 2 mm on the ceiling: i think too thick. (Very large FL tube bulbs indeed)
It's long time that i'm looking for a solution for lighting of the interior of the models, but always theoretically. This time i have the right motivation to find a working solution. Around in the net there are a bunch of information, tutorials, stores that are confusing me rather then help me.
But in this forum I'm following the spacerunner's epic build of the Shuttle Launch Pad. Here you can find a lot of information and experiences, adding lights to the complex structure. Particulary in this post I found a video showing an "how to" with small SMD ( Surface Mounting Device ) LED. At the referenced site i found a "Chip Light Kit" very appetising, between many other solutions.
The LED is thiny, the power source is simple and small, no circuit or resistors, there is also a switch ...

May it be that i found "the" solution? As an italian poet (A.Manzoni) said, talking about the Napoleon glory: "Ai posteri l'ardua sentenza" (posterity will judge ...) .

Best, Nando
