Raven from Mechwarrior Online (MWO)

Hey folks,

After finishing the Raven from Mechwarrior 4 as a first try I just started with my MWO Raven. The design was done by parman01 in the MWO forums. You can find this design here to download:
MWO: Forums - Raven Papercraft

Just did the first cuts using 150g paper. Still learning Progress will be slow and steady I think.

As I just restarted building papercraft models I will post even small steps as they are relatively important for me to get feedback.
No, the edges are not colored as I wait for my PITT Brush pens to arrive (Hopefully tomorrow).
I tried edge coloring with some sort of watersoluble artins pencils but the result was not really that what I expected. Maybe it is because of the too thick cvard I used (quick & dirty spaceship build in the background).

For the MWO Raven I am currently building I used 150 grams paper which suits me better for cutting and building.

First part is the base under the cockpit. Used toothpick for applying glue and a seamripper for embossing fold lines. I think I will go for a trimmed x-acto blade for embossing folding lines as I think this suits me better...
Tomorrow in the workshop I will build one.

Any helpful hints are deeply appreciated.

Made a bit of progress though I am not really satisfied with the nose section of the mech. I forgot to emboss two folds which are pretty fumbly to emboss when glued the half part... That was truly the result of impatience...But hey I will not make the same mistake when building the next model

Looks like a very interesting mech. Some nice graphics and detailing.

Some progress. Have to work harder to cover edges...
The small edge under the cockpit looks strange but is intended and seen so on the original 3D Model.

That is really coming out great. The MWO Raven's head shape differs a lot from the CBT head, but I like the look of it very much. Watching with interest.

I made a mistake with the left and right sidetorso (i built them both at a time):
The Torsi consist of three parts. one bottom part, one top part and a surrounding wall. The tabs are located on the top and bottom parts. I closed the wall before glueing the bottom part to it and now I have to fiddle the bottom part in place.
Tabs are on the bottom part and since the wall has a special shape it will be quite challenging to put the bottom part in it without making a mistake which can not be corrected and not spillng glue all over the parts.

I think this will be a great opportunity to test "butt glueing with seperate tabs"
I will make seperate tabs from the same paper as the parts are and glue them seperately to the wall piece so that I can glue the bottom part on it without problems.

I try to write down all my mistakes so that beginners who read this thread can learn from my esperience as I am a beginner as well...

Remember: If it gets worse: Try to make the best out of it

Will post some pictures later.

Here is the picture of the sidetorsi

As you can see I was stupid enough to close the structure before glueing the backside

With a little patience it works without making new tabs. Step by step the structure can be closed.
Lazy me trying without changes

You'd never know that there was an issue. Nice save.
