It's smaller on the outside: A Tardis.

As I am in the middle of a build-on-hold due to lots of personal reasons, I thought it would be nice to show you this one I built last year in august. I put it on my blog but haven't yet showed it on the forum here.

Now, as a Whovian-light, I am always glad to catch an episode of Doctor Who. I like Tom Baker a lot but my favourite series is when they continued in 2005. And my favourite 'new' Doctor is Peter Capaldi. So being very enthusiastic about his installment as the Doctor in the new series, I decided it would be nice to build me a tiny Tardis. It's Bryan Tan's model which has lots of layers to accentuate the panels.

I used blue card (270 gram!) for the outside, some blotting paper for the frosted windows and grey card for the insides. As extra reinforcement. The build was very straightforward. Of course. It's just a box. The result was pleasing, to say the least. And it became a very sturdy box for the mad man. But just as- is on the shelf was not the way it should be displayed.
I slaughtered an old alarm clock and put all the sprockets and springs in a nice arrangement on a picture frame. I used some fiberfill for smoke (or dust clouds) and made some beauty shots lightened by my bright flash light.
So here's my little Tardis.

Very nice. After doing several of these for others, I finally did AirDave's for in front of my TV. I totally understand the Whovian light. Maybe Whovian Medium. Since PBS stopped airing episodes, and BBCAmerica went to weekends only, I'm starting to have withdrawal.

Whovian light as in enjoying Who a lot but not taking part in stupid discussions about "why the sonic screwdriver wasn't used in episode 5 when bla bla and the Daleks did that but they can't because in episode 6 they did bla bla bla". It's a Fantasy TV show. It is not real. Live with it. Just enjoy it. Don't nitpick it.
I also have withdrawal signs. We can receive BBC 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the Netherlands but after the last series ended I was really having a little cold turkey. In the meantime I enjoy rewatching old episodes and catching up on essential episodes. My favourite is Blink. (of course). But I also love Voyage of the Damned (but that is also because I have a severe weakness for Kylie..)
Really looking forward to the next series after the summer.

Midnight is my favorite episode. Seemed rather like a Who twist on an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode.

Yes, that one is available at Doctor Who by RocketmanTan on DeviantArt

There are several great Tardis models out there. I have done several of AirDave's at Koolwheelz Specialz. I wish I knew more about rigging led's, because the last one I did has an interior (with the illusion of being larger on the inside)
