Beta-test build ( Normandy SR2 ) all skin texture applied

Here comes the pictures of the complete skin texture applied to the Fuselage Hull on the Normandy SR2.

On the 4th picture if you take a good look you will see, that i have color the inner skin with black marker around the border. This is a good idea to hide any white areas, when it comes to gluing the outer texture skin on top of the white inner skin.

Next on the 8th , 9th picture, you can see the details showing on the thickness of the 600gsm card stock i'm using. With all the top / side skin applied to the hull, i had to color in all edging with similar color to match the textures of the skin.

Hope you enjoy the picture of complete stage of the texture skin applied.

Stay tune for the next build stage. Underneath the fuselage = ( Cargo bay ). : )

Thanks liger, this is not my design of the SR2. The designer of this model, i'm test building for him right now is ( SJSquirrel ). This is to help find error or build different alternative methods.

I do have my own 78" Version Normandy SR2
, which is in development right now in working on the mesh for internal structure / editing extra details. Plus I am re-working on the Normandy SR1 Version to go along with my 78" Normandy SR2. This will be later, as soon after i completed the 3D model mesh / 2D paper mesh layout.

Beta-test build ( Normandy SR2 ) Underneath the fuselage - Cargo bay

The next build stage begins.

Page 9 :

Here we have page 9 of the SR2 parts of the cargo bay. I start with the former ribs, laminating them to 1mm card stock. After the glue dries, i notice that only some of the former ribs are labeled with there part letters. If you take a good look on the 2nd picture, you will see a total of 13 ribs labeled from A , B , C , D , E & the very last 4 ribs with no label. After seeing that there was no part letters, label on those 4 last ribs. I've made sure that each part i cutout was in the same order, as from the 2nd picture. So i don't make any mistake in assembly.

Info for the designer Steve (SJSquirrel )
UPDATE : It would be good if these 4 last ribs with no label & the side rail had F , G labeled on them. This will make it easier for other builders to assembled these former ribs correctly in order. You will see it on the 2nd picture / 3rd picture.

Next you can see how the build stage of the ribs are assembled in order from the 4th to the 7th picture. Lastly from the 8th to the 11th picture you can see the inner cargo bay & the outer skin applied to the former ribs.

Stay tune for the next build stage to come. ( Entry of the cargo bay )

Noted, and fixed. Thanks. I added additional formers after the initial test build and must have gotten distracted and forgot to finish that labeling.

I'll also make a note to include some screen shots or instructions that illustrate the purpose of the extra formers. There should be a gap between ribs D and E. The matching ribs of the "wing" segments (parts 3 and 5 on page 13) then fit into that gap. The ends of those formers can then be glued into the gap giving a better connection between the wing and body, and helping to set the proper angle between the wing and fuselage.

Your welcome, Steve.

Yeah i kinda figure that out on the gap between rib D & E on full assembly. It's meant for the wing. I can post up some picture angle of the gap between rib D & E, plus the structure of the wing ribs mounted in the slot of D & E. However i manage to get to page 13 of the wing & i did found a few problems. But i'm not sure if i should post them here for you to see it or if i send you a message?. As my post is not up to the wing stage yet.

Beta-test build ( Normandy SR2 ) Front entry of the cargo bay

Build stage of page 10 begins :

In the first picture of page 10 you will see two outline boxes on the bottom of the page with the former ribs. I glue both of them on a 1mm card stock. I start with the left
outline boxes of former ribs, since it's the entry for the cargo bay. As you can see it in the 2nd picture with all the parts cutout & ready for assembly.

Start with part no.8, as it's the last part to glue it to the base of the fuselage. Get part 1 & glue it on top of part 8 with the outline showing for part 1. After the glue sets, get the parts from 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 & assemble them in order. It should look like this from picture 3 through to picture 5. Next is the skin to cover the former ribs. In picture 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 you can see how it forms together. Note : make sure on the skin of parts 9 & 10 are glued correctly. If you look at picture 8 there is a black strip, this is part 10. this has to glue behind of part 9. Picture 9 show the location of where part 10 has to glue behind of part 9.

Finally we have completed the assembly of the front entry of the cargo bay. On picture 12 & 13 is where it's mounted on the bottom of the fuselage.

Next is the cargo bay section, mounted
on the bottom of the fuselage. Stay tune.

Beta-test build ( Normandy SR2 ) Mounting cargo bay / finishing off the section.

Here is the final build of the cargo bay section mounted on the bottom of the fuselage. From the 1st to 4th picture show perfect alignment with no gaps or deformity on the front entry door to the mid section cargo bay. This is perfection, with no problems. I gotta say to the designer Steve ( SJSquirrel ) awesome design / layout , very easy to build.

Next on picture 5 & 6 you can see the last skin applied to the front of the cargo bay.

Regarding for the designer Steve (SJSquirrel ) : Of the front cargo bay door

Hey Steve, i want to ask you in regarding to the front cargo bay door. Have you found a way on mounting the door to the front of the cargo bay. If not, i have a cargo bay door hinge mesh from the Normandy SR2 that i have found, it might just work. As the hole cargo bay door opens downward. It may need some editing slightly to make it work?. If you are interested, let me know & i can send you the mesh files.

Now we moving to the final end of the bottom section. As you can see in picture 7 to 15 the building process begins. I start laying out the parts in order. Ribs from 1 to 4 & the center spar. After assembly i notice there is a problem. In picture 9 , 10 you can see there is a error on the part number. The one with the black skin numbered 3 of the rib should have part number 4 & the one behind it labeled 4 should have part number 3. The reason for this, if you take a look at the very last picture you will see the angle shot of the black texture showing. This is where the rib is glued on the back of the mid section cargo bay, on final completion. This error has been notified to the designer & all errors has been updated. That's it for the bottom fuselage / cargo bay.

Building next is the wing guard section / adding details. Stay tuned.

Beta-test build ( Normandy SR2 ) Wing guard section / adding details

Build stage of page 11 begins :

Here is the progress that i'm up too. Pretty straight forward on page 11. First i started on assembling the wing guards, then attaching them to the fuselage. You will see the assembly of the wing guard on picture 2 through to picture 5.

Next i move along in assembling the tail fins. Note : On complete assembly of part 5 , 6 , 7, that you mount the tail fin to the fuselage on the right side of the hull. If you need reference, you can take a look on picture 7. The fin on the left side is from part 5 , 6 , 7. Then the fin on the right side is part 8 , 9 , 10.

Info for the designer Steve (SJSquirrel )

UPDATE : This would be a good idea to add picture
references or instructions that illustrate for the tail fins that mounts to the fuselage. This will be better for people to not get lost on assembling the tails fins.

Stay tune for more details added to the fuselage.
