USS Enterprise Sterling Kit

Anybody built one of these? My wife bought me one awhile back, and I'm thinking of using it for my first paper build.

When you said sterling I thought it was a sterling silver model of USS enterprise

there is a build kit on it. it is a little choppy, more like a card pop together kit. very good and it has lites in it, but if you want a very good enterprise, try Rawen's small kit or Ron Caullido's large kit after you do this one.

Cool - thanks for the tip! Yes, it has lights. Looks like it'll be fun to build. I'm not too keen on having some LEDs just sticking out of the lighted dome areas of the warp nacelles and underside of the saucer section. I might have to recess them and find some opaque material for those areas.

I think it would be cool to have the strobes flashing as well - might have to look into that as well. I'll save the fiber optics light kit for another build.

Raja - that's good information, thanks! I didn't know much about the kit - it doesn't have a brand name or logo on the outside, so I Googled the kit and the write-up said "Sterling," which was part of the information I copied. Sorry for the confusion.

i got one of these for Christmas, i will be starting it as soon as the Negh'Var i am working on is done. under close inspection of the parts on the page there was many small die-cut errors where the dies didn't quite come together especially on the saucer section but they should be negligible all in all it should be a great first kit to build.

Looks like a fun build. Put on the ST soundtrack and go to town and show us pics!

I gotta get some things out of the way before I start into it, but yeah, I'll definitely post up a build thread! :D

radio shack has green yellow and red blinkers that drive other leds. i have used them to drive a red/white-green/white and yellow running lights for the saucer top and under and hanger dome. if you put a marble in the nacelle globes it can lite up red or amber. but the lines thing wont happen, a lamp lens from an electronic store might work if you want the lines in the globes. i have found that black paper works better than foil for light blocking and hot glue filling in the windows looks good. or just back them with plastic milk carton translucent white plastic strips. good luck!!
