You would have to ask the original artist who painted the cover about wing placement. My guess is that aerodynamics were not considered, it just had to look cool........I mean 'cool' in the late 1940s. Heck, I could write a huge list of things 'not right' with the design...and Woody Woodpecker could tell us why it wouldn't fly (oops...different Heinlein story). Bottom line: It was a pulp fiction cover art from the late 1940s. |

I drew a light gray version also.....Since (1) the Spaceship Handbook 3-views says the color is "gray or metallic silver" and (2) the book only says it has "gray sides" and was "polished metal" (color only vaguely mentioned in two places). I built mine white because the book cover art ship always looked white to me and most of the finished resin kits I've looked at were painted white as well. But I have saved your repaint....very nice! |

Eyeballs are open
A great idea for a great rocket. I can't wait to see how you color it.

Galileo plans on page 260 give point of nose as station 0, leading edge wing root as station 458, trailing edge wing root as station 838, end of shiny body as station 1056, end of tail cone as station 1104. Wing span is given as 1008. Oh, and book also covers what needs to be done to make flyable models of these things.

I went to Downloads>SciFi & Real Space>SciFi there was a column on the right under New Downloads with
Rocket Ship Galileo 08-24-2016, 11:24 AM as a listing. Clicking on that took me to the download page. Clicking on the Rocket Ship Galileo - Kit 1-190 - White.pdf attachment link and not the Download All Files link started the download after the 30 second delay. There is also a link on the left of the Sci-Fi download page with No Image but a link to the download page that works. Again clicking on the attachment link instead of the Download All Files link started the download after a 30 second delay.
