Creating a few Tom Swift Jr. crafts - 3D first paper second
I have started creating a few 3D obj files from the Tom Swift Jr. books.
Once done I will try to convert them over to paper models If you would like to download my OBJ file they are here @ About TheHawk59 - Thingiverse Please few free to review Maybe get a copy if you like. Link to some picture of book cover crafts https://www.google.com/search?q=tom....qoCFUQ_AUIBygC I will probably need some help when the time comes to converting them to .PDO file. But until then I want to get the 3d mesh files correct. |

Well I have about 10 of the 33+ crafts now (with a few I may need to rework)

Very interesting. What scale are they?

Right now they are just 3D mesh drawing so scale is open.
I am thinking 1/72 for the larger craft 1/48 maybe 1/32 for the small stuff. I am open at this point. |

If the quality is there in the final image, the 1/48 models could be enlarged for 1/24... I hope.

It's so great to see an alternative to the never ending slew of TV rockets. You really got my imagination on fire!

Was the Tom Swift illustrator inspired by this type of fire alarm which I came across in a small town in Northern France this summer?! I think there is a paper model of this somewhere.

Many thanks for this. I read Tom Swift and his Outpost in Space when I was a boy, and the book cover--and now your model--bring back great memories. Nice work--thanks.
