I have a few more bits to assemble on the starboard nacelle, and my own build will be complete. Ron has given his approval, so I'll be making my redrawn (all vectors for clean scaling!) and recolored (toned-down version of color supposedly from the original 11-foot prop) version generally available very soon.

The attached image shows it's present state.

CardStalker and rickstef do not worry - the nacelle pylons are only resting in place! It's a simple matter to remove them and re-insert the correct way around, thanks to the positioners which Ron very helpfully designed into the hull and nacelles themselves . The scale of this model is 1/720 lep.

Mike, I've just had a look at your website and downloaded the updated Enterprise. I have to say that it looks a lot better than the original I'm working with at the moment, much sharper and cleaner. I'm very tempted to restart my build, but using this newer version instead. I haven't got very far, so it won't be too bad to start over again.

Hi CD,
Thanks for posting this thread! Thanks also to all for the kind words!

I'm glad you are enjoying building this model, I sure had a blast designing it. I apologize that the texturing isn't really that great; it's not really my strong suit. This is the reason I gave Jon and Mike permission to recolor. The rework they did is outstanding! I'm hoping more people try their hand at recoloring it. I think it would be cool to see some more versions (hint: battle damage?) emerge!

I learned early on that the assembly instructions make the model more enjoyable to build because you don't have to learn from frustrating mistakes. They're not so easy to write. I spend probably as much time on the drawings for the manual and writing it as I did in the original pattern design!

Best Regards,

Ron, please don't feel bad about the textures on your original model. I still think it's a great looking kit and I'd be more than happy to build it and proud to display it afterwards. But Mike's redrawing has put me in a difficult position - do I carry on or start again!? The instructions that come with the model are a big part of what attracted me to it, and I have to say that you've done a really great job with them, thank you!

Chris, it was the odd coloring that made me want to repaint the model in the first place, and the few minor quirks in its geometry that caused me to actually redraw it, partway through my own build. I ended my first build just after mating the forward and aft sections of the secondary hull.

Thanks should go to Ron for his invaluable assistance as well as his excellent CAD work. :-)

I should also apologize to you, Chris; it suddenly dawned on me late last night that I had unintentionally hijacked your thread. :-/

Edit: Here's my finished build in a more suitable environmnent than my dirty cutting mat.
