Space 1999 Moon Buggy

I finally got around to some of the Space 1999 models in my build pile. This is labeled as "Steele Productions, 2006". I cannot remember where I downloaded this one, my best guess is at the Space 1999 forums. The front of this is a PITA, for real. the fit isn't real great, and based on the measurements it is about 0.5" too short for 1:18th scale. I added the length in GIMP. I ditched the interior tub, and printed another copy, and reversed it for the interior tub. I used the bumpers for the spacer for the sides, and I used the exterior side as the interior side (removing the numbers) I added a load floor, as the base for the bench seat. I'll begin on the wheels soon.

Boy, oh, boy; this is a trip down memory lane! I remember watching the series faithfully, every week. I even bought the plastic moon bus to build for me oldest son. I'll enjoy following this thread. Nice work!

Looking good! Space:1999 is one of my favorites as a kid. I still watch an episode or two on TubiTv. I worked on an Eagle design for myself years ago, but never finished it. Still want to do it though.
Good to see you building this buggy!

Instead of filling my evens with useless hours of mindless crap I won't watch, why not try filling the time with old TV programs like Space 1999? It's way out of date I know but the point is it's fills the time unless you have better things to do any way like modeling. Just my 2 cents worth. Any ideas where this model can be found. I really enjoyed this TV series. If I had the smarts I would build the space craft used for space. Very interesting build. Looking forward to this one. Thank you for sharing. Most likely above my mental output to build also. wc

Moon Buggy

When I saw your pictures I remebered that I built the same moon buggy some years ago. I also scaled the model for my Eagle-Transporter-Diorama. The wheels I used are scratch-built. I thought the moon buggy templates are frome the eagle transporter forum.

regards Loenf

That's where I got it, Thank you! You're build turned out way better then my first attempt. I am playing with the file, getting it more correct to the Amphicat base vehicle. I'll post pictures soon.
