Mechas

Here is a mecha, called the Mad Dog or the Vulture Becker Industries - Papercraft There are no instructions on this one but I used a lot of reference material and modified the lower legs and added a few more embellishments.

There is another one that I am constructing as a scratch build with mixed media. I sculpted the upper and covered it in paper. the Glaug Sentarii is ongoing at the moment but the hardest part, the upper body is almost done.

These ones do not get a build thread for the moment. I was just playing around to see if they were feasible to make them look other than paper.

Hey, they are working. Used to have metal and plastic miniatures for gaming and they have a lot of intricate shapes making for one in paper being quite an accomplishment.

I tried a while back to build it totally out of paper but there are too many curvatures and that early version crashed and burned.

Thank you, this is a mixed media model which uses wood carved into the desired shape

Thanks for looking in, it is going slow at the moment but it is creeping along.

Here is a small update on the Glaug. The legs are next on the list and they are laminated heavily. It will have some articulation to help pose the Mecha and then the legs can then be glued into position

Glaug Sentarii

More updates on the Mecha. It is slow going since I am doing two projects simultaneously. So far, I have not run into any serious problems. I am scratch building as I go, so no templates for this except what I am using as reference.

Forgot to ask - what size is your Glaug ? Wargames size, or larger (or smaller !) ?

It is a bit larger than the Bandai model. I rescaled the size to a manageable one. I could have gone to the large size but I need room for other models. If I look at it from the cockpit area, it is about 1/40 scale. More photos coming soon and the lower legs are about done. I already have an idea on the arms section which is the weakest point in the build.

Always thought the Glaug's arms were a poor design, they just do not look strong enough to wield the cannon pods. Overall, though, it's still a very attractive mech - I have a large action figure scale 'toy' Glaug.

Glaug Sentarii

More updates on the Glaug. It is coming along well but the foot pads are wrong, but I will continue on I may fix it later on but for the sake of the thread the procedure is the same.
