Lightbulb Sulaco 1/650

A while back I made Jan's giant Sulaco, which came out to 5.5ft long.

I'm doing it again, but this time with build videos and scaled down to 1/650. That should make it a bit under 4ft long when done.

Here is the full gallery.

The videos are here.

Nice. Will follow this thread. The Sulaco is an interesting ship.

At any scale, it's going to be a build worth following. I downloaded the model files just after the last file was posted, but I've never had the nerve to attempt to build it.

Give it a try. It is nicely designed and goes together pretty well. Think of it more as 20-something individual models that you put together at the end instead of a single giant model.

I agree with Gotham- never had the nerve or time to attempt it.
I did make his m41 pulse rifle a few years ago and it did impress quite a few friends of mine however it took 12 weeks to make and it was really just 12 odd shaped boxes glued together- still got it on a shelf, collecting dust four years later! but also one has to consider the amount of paper and ink just to print it out and all that cutting out too...very time consuming.

The M41 Pulse rifle is an ink eater. I have attempted that build, but gave up - I hadn't been building paper models long and I think I was trying to run too early !

And I finished section 3 today.

link to video: linky

I don't have much to stay on this one... so no voiceover on the video. Jan's design is nice, it works, and it goes together well.

Here is the snapshot of section 4. It came out very clean.

The upper rail is a long thin set of parts... very hard to make them consistently without twisting, etc. So I used a balsa stick and I had paint that is nearly the same color as the model texture.
