TIE Fighter

Good morning
Well, after the simple Lego snowspeeder I needed something more.
No, not getting back to open projects - that would be too good to be true.
So let's open up another one.
And then I thought about TIE Fighter by Ninjatoes.
Why not, I did it last year. Moreover one of my friends like it so much that while I'll have fun building another one he will get it as a birthday gift.
So, here it comes.
Beside the original TIE by Ninjatoes you may find "revamp" one by Loenf.
It's supposed to be simplified version of the original.
Well, it is up to a point that all the tabs are removed.
The main parts of the ship - reactor heat exchangers - some person call it wings, but as far as I know wing should create lift throu aerofoil or have control surfaces, others call it solar panels, nope not much sun where they operate, well so on this parts Loenf remove markings were you suppose to be attaching final details.
Loenf version have only one advantage - the external colour of the craft.
Don't get me wrong I like original as well due to it's hand painting appeal, but the "real" TIE was either grey or white.
Enough, everybody is sneezing already.

Nice work.

"Wings" are everything:reactor heat exchangers, solar panels, energy accumulators

And another pictures.
On the external details I use twice the original tickness for a better 3D look.

When I was young I assumed they were the ION Thrusters. I.E., charge ions and accelerate them along the large surface. Change the strength and direction of acceleration on each side for maneuverability.

Closing to finish line.
As far as I can tell, for me this is the perfect paper model of the TIE Fighter.
It's got perfect ballance between construction simplicity and attention to details.
In a limited amount of time and effort You got iconic craft. For me it took some 26 hours in 9 evenings averaging 3 hours a day. Once I managed to reach 6 hours mark in a day - only because my one year and 8 months old Son allowed me to. As You can see it on the pictures He was present at the final acceptance tests.
If it is to simmple for You, then go for TIE Interceptor designed by UHU.
And it's free, and I've seen worse for which you have to pay.
I added some details to the "wings" to break the emptiness. Could add more but I just wanted to finish it.
And here it is, hope You enjoy it.

Nice work! I thought the " Wings " of ninjatoes Fighter would much more thicker, did you revamp them?

regards loenf

Sorry for late reply.
Yes the Ninjatoes "wings" were a lot thicker. I skipped the all around filler and just glued the main parts together. I remembered them more that way, and I just cant fight with memories .
With the few added details I wanted it to look more technical or just draw attention from poor finish
