Interstellar Endurance

After starting and then hanging out a model of UHU02 (see uhu02's Orion III), I decided to try again with something simpler, or at least I hope so.

So I started to build the model of the starship protagonist of the movie Interstellar, the Endurance designed by UHU02.

#045「Endurance」ペーパークラフト: uhu02 ペーパークラフト

To complicate my life, however, I decided to use, for the first time, a product to protect the colors and to "laminate" the paper and make it more resistant. This of course has led to some adjustments in how I normally cut and bend the parts, and the choice of a more suitable glue (vinyl glue).

I then decided to strictly follow the assembly sequence suggested by the designer, hoping to avoid errors and omissions in a model that is not very simple.

I then started with the realization of the individual modules that make up the ring, also following the suggestions to make the surface more three-dimensional.

There is quite a bit of greebling potential in this model. I am looking forward to seeing all that you do with this model! I will be watching this thread closely!!!
I wish you the very best of luck with it!

@Wad Cutter: relatively simple, I mean that there are many similar elements and not very complicated geometry. Then every UHU02 project is never simple and requires attention and experience. After a first taste I wanted to start from a model that I think is more within my reach, I hope.

@Rhaven Blaack: I agree that the model has great greebling potential, but as I said I already wanted to experiment with new materials and techniques, so I'll stick to the improvements suggested by the designer.

Best, Nando

The work on the model is actually already quite ahead, because, after many false departures, I prefer to be sure I can carry it out, before publishing my work.

So below the work on the various modules.

Just a note: I could not use the method proposed by the designer to glue the particular 2 + 1a into the module. So I preferred to use two tabs inside.

Good build so far. The ship is a fascinating design, although there are aspects of it that don't make a lot of practical sense.

Between the "simple" design and Uhu02's inclusion of virtually every detail, I'm not sure there's a lot of potential for (or need for) "greebling." It wasn't a very greebly spacecraft.

Nando, I've been ill with a severe stomach problems for over 5 months. It's been hard to sit down at the PC for any period of time. I had to make many corrections in my diet and because of this I've been away from my modeling table for several months. Way to many. I've noticed I had a few other problems to over come as well. I'll never give up modeling, it's the best thing to happen to me and being a member of the forum is right up there too. So much kind help and friendly people. What more then a better stomach could a guy ask for. I'll be keeping a eye on the build and I hope one day you come back to do a step by step on the Orion III to it's end. Thank you. wc
