1:1000scale star trek models???

I'm looking to build as many star trek ships I can, and I would also like them all to be the same scale... Is there a comprehensive list of these models that are all the same scale?

If not, what advice can you guys give as I begin to make my own models.

The great thing about paper models is that they can be re sized to any scale you want.

Yes, I'd like to have such a resource as well. Since paper models tend to "look & perform best" when printed in their 'native scale', having a listing of currently available 'stuff' would be useful. Also, having something that was inclusive of other media (resin, plastic, etc.) would also be useful for collecting as well as comparision purposes.

To help with starting such a list (assuming one does not already exist), check out this resource:

This is pretty handy as well:

Some scales there are and forever will be debated, but at least it will get you in the ballpark.

Jinx!:D

Yes, there is a lot of debate over the "published" scales of various kits - mostly stemming from the variability of 'dimensions' related to studio (or CGI, for that matter) models. But then, scale stringency has always been up to the modeler...

Well that's just annoying. I thought this was well published info. I can remember being a kid and reading through my father Starfleet Technical Manual and it had tons of info that was canon and supposedly from notes made by Roddenberry. I'm no trekkie, but I love Star Trek...maybe I should start reading up. I just find it annoying that the basic model of the Nebula class ship I found was smaller than the Galaxy class I found...

This chart has been heavily researched and I con sitter it to be accurate.

Yeah, I've gone off the same chart when I was into 'designing' my own trek ships for fun.

I just don't know how I'm going to go about blowing up or shrinking the models I've been downloading to keep some semblance of scale...

I use this tool *ALL THE FREAKING TIME* for scaling models in Pepakura:

Scale Calculator Programme

It'll make your life so much easier.

To use it, simply input the full length of the vessel in question in the upper box and switch the units to meters. Then input the scale in the "Output" box (say, 1:1700 scale) and switch the units to centimeters or inches, whatever you're comfortable with.

Once you get the right length, take the size of the model you're resizing and divide it by the size you want it to be. This will give you the percentage for print scaling.

You're welcome.
