I caught heck for pointing this out before -- and not to be pedantic -- but in the world of special-effects modelmaking, laminating additional hull pieces is plating, while greebles are the bits of finer detail, such as plumbing, junction boxes and other features meant to make the surface look more complex and interesting.

dhanners, you may already know this, but someone may find the following to be interesting reading: Some background on greeblies: https://www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/...-wars-universe The universal greebly: The ILM Universal Greeblie - Ken-McConnell.com And of course the fairly dry wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeble |

Maybe I'm just out of touch as everyone else seems to know where it came from, but what's the source of this model?

Yes, that's the one I'm using. The instructions are in Japanese but the pictures are good and among the Japanese text you'll see the number of the components.
I'm at stage 11 in the build (pics attached). On the instructions #5, you put 28 on top of 8,9,10,11 - it wasn't that clear to me but on his YouTube video it's easier to see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Ks...EOOQz0L-JgCa1w Also, component 41 wasn't long enough by 2mm although that could be me... The model is coming on ok, a bit slow, but I want to take my time and get it as right as I can. |

Progress looks good to me. When you're gluing the rectangular boxes and center octagonal former to the ship's body, make sure to weight them down (a book works well) while the glue dries. That'll make them flat.

Hi, I'm already assembling the two TIE models of this designer and I'm starting this model. His designs are easy but you must have patience. Enjoy the model and take your time.

I'll take a look at the TIE models but think I'll do an X-Wing next, we'll see :-)
Yeah I'm not rushing it, just enjoying it. |

The model build is still progressing and still enjoying it. I work from home most days so I've been gluing a part and then leaving the model for at least an hour before doing the next step.
I've realized the importance of writing the number on the back of each piece! Also to work out how each piece is going to fit the other and how I'm going to hold it in place before I apply glue (not while the glue is drying). |
