MCRN Morrigan Class: Build Log

So with the MCRN Donnager done and waiting on feedback for tweaks, fixes and improvements I thought I would take a wee rest... and then I discovered the bug has me and have decided to push on with my next project.

Using what I've learned with the MCRN Donnager I am announcing that I have started work on the MCRN Morrigan class. Most likely the Scipio Africanus

Start at the front and work back

Having done some pelimary export of parts it looks like this vessel / model has the potential to be a much easier build than the Donnager but has some weird oddities.

Firstly the potential is there for a good amount more detail, most likely because it is a much smaller vessel in Universe compared to the Donnager, even smaller than the Rocinante however the bldener model is a bit of a pain to get right. The Donnager is pretty much a bucnh of cubes with a few bevels here and there.

The Morrigan though has some odd edges that all align in odd ways.

Took me a good five or six attempts to get this little mid section with all it's odd angles and wedges looking right

Done a little more work on the model.

Engine cone, engineering section, rail gun mounts and some of the hull detail are now in. Also tweaked the size and scale of some parts and redid the mid section where the front and rear connect.

Lots of work on the blender model, this is one difficult ship to get right. Loads of little layered parts. This is version seven of the model and hopefully will be the basis for the final model. Still have some detail parts to add.

Good work so far. The adherence to physics and reality on "The Expanse" make for some odd-looking ships. Then again, to those of us who grew up with "2001," "Star Trek" and "Star Wars," "odd-looking" is subjective....
