[its a joke...calm down...I love George]
Actually, those were the same points I thought of (-=

But my main reasons for not watching is just how far they have gone from the original story Gene created, the way CBS and Paramount have viciously attacked the fan-base when they decided to re-assert their control and how they have decided to use this, Twilight Zone and other shows to try to strong-arm fans of classic shows to sign-up for their paywall.

Instead I am really enjoying The Orville which is far more like Gene's original universe and has really reached into much deeper stories that I expected from Seth.

I have the Original Twilight Zone on DVD and I'll just find {other} ways to watch Picard if it turns out to be as good as it seems rather than give my money to CBS.

Cheers,

John Gay

I don't like it.
The character is ridiculous and the actor makes her even more ridiculous.

God(or any other fictitious deity) doesn't need to get involved...?

The actor or character that is the Science Guy comes across as snarky, in a bad mood, and generally just mean to others.
Maybe this is part of the of the character story....but it was immediately distasteful, and I didn't like it.

Am I not allowed to judge and critique a TV show?

And Discovery's Groot (Saru) is (to me) the most annoying character with backward knees I have ever had to listen to.

The "overweight" girl, is just that, by Federation standards. Its even been discussed in the show (where she was unable to perform at the proper level because of her physical condition.
In the world of Star Trek, with all its major advancements in medical and future technologies...they don't have the ability to help someone who is out of shape?
And she never seems to have the confidence or ability to perform at the level shes been put in...how the heck did she get there in the first place?
Makes no sense to me...but then I have to tolerate constant hand-holding and coddling of this girl (within the storylines).

"Concept" of overweight?....I know what overweight is. I am overweight. Its not a concept...its reality.
And the reality is, I can have an opinion on fat people, and this show, whether you like it or not.

I did not know Jeffrey Epstein and I have no idea how he died!
Yeah. Whatever.

yeah, have to agree, that I have been pleasantly surprised by Orville
considering I really didn't like Seth McFarlane up to this point.
He still bothers me in the show...my second least favorite actor and character
but the show is a good blend of fun/comedy and serious space stories.
Much more like Star Trek was.

I was sad to see the Security Girl go.
I would have preferred to say goodbye to the Captain's annoying ex-wife.

oh no...now I've gone and criticized ex-wives! good thing she isn't fat...like my ex-wife...oh no, I've done it again!

Arnold didn't build his career on great acting chops or emoting abilities!
So your argument (implying that she got the role based on her acting talent) doesn't hold ground.

And even the best actors can over emote.
I never said she didn't have acting talent.
Why are you twisting what I said?

You just don't like the fact that I have an opinion on this actor?
or is this, once again, just an excuse to attack me?

Sarcasm averse? lol I have no idea what your point is here.

No dig at "people of faith".
I have faith...in reality.
You introduced religion into your argument...not me.
I have the right to my lack of belief.
This has nothing to do with Star Trek or Disco music.

No, you didnt stop me from having an opinion.
But you have tried to restrict my opinions.
I'm focused on whats in this TV show and how it relates to this TV show, thats all.
Critics offer up the same opinions every day for TV shows and Movies.
If you don't like my opinion of this show, then voice your own.
But don't criticize my right to have an opinion about this show and its characters/actors.

Back to The Orville, Seth MacFarlane and Norm Macdonald were red flags before watching it, but I think I enjoy it so much because I had low expectations. If I had high expectations to start with, I think I would feel disappointed and would have watched something else. Is it great? Not really, but it is a whole lot better than I thought it would be

I knew it had something to do with "baby boomers" (honestly don't understand what that is either lol)
So "ok boomer" is the catch-all insult of late.

So, now I get it...this isn't about opinions and critiques.
You generally just want to throw out (what you think are) insults directed at me.

Basically saying I am too old and irrelevant for you to care?
Pretty much says it all about the intelligence I am dealing with.

Norm McDonald is a hoot!
And that blobby character is the best part of the show!
(...just to clarify, that is in my opinion, and not disrespect to those who believe in space aliens)

I recognized the voice at first, but didn't believe it was Norm.

To me, thats a really brave move, installing that type of character in the frontlines of a show.

Like any show, theres many things you would fix...plenty to dislike.
But if I had to watch it over Discovery, I definitely wouldn't complain.

Have to say, the trailers are making Picard look very good.
But then again, thats what trailers do do. Isnt it?

I am looking forward to this show, despite not being the biggest Next Gen fan.
I was in for the first 3 or 4 years, but then it got tiring for me.
And I didn't like most of the characters on Voyager, so I couldn't get into that one either.

Seven-Eleven was eye candy, but her stories didn't interest me much.
But seeing her in Picard is very interesting.

So, is this going to be some sort of pay channel show?
Will I have to download it from some illegitimate source to see it?

I think i like you Dave lol.

God bless Gene for casting the first Orion Slave Girl. A very inconclusive act in a intolerant time. (Yes mike this is Duke Speak).

Now if anyone has built the model I would love to here from you.

Duke Out!
