I have not built this kit, but from what I have seen, it looks like there are a lot of parts, but it is a collection of easy to moderate parts that go together to form the whole.

If we offended anyone, it was unintentional. I think most of the comments were about the kit and encouraging folks to give it a try.
I think if I challenged your post by asking, "How did you not see he was giving Dunarispace a hard time?" you might take at least mild offense. Similarly, asking bluntly, "How is it complicated?" might give someone (particularly someone for whom English might be a second language) pause. Going further by saying the person "might be intimidated by the parts and the build" also comes off as less than welcoming.

If the reply to Dunarispace had been something like, "The parts count may be high, but the assembly is divided into manageable chunks that require only basic cardmodeling skills, and the instructions seem clear," then I don't think there'd be an issue. I do note that, for whatever reason, Dunarispace has not returned to the discussion.

Question for Thales,
Should the edges of this part be thickened?

Let me look here....

Part 242 should be laminated to .5mm thick and cut out. On page 10 of the instructions (top left corner of that page), the areas in red need to be built up with a layer or two of cardstock. You don't want to obscure the grey printing on the part. The easiest way is to print of another copy or two of that part and cut the area noted in red away from the rest and glue that on top of part 242. We will glue part 242 behind part 241 and want this relief to add dimension to the resulting sub-assembly.

The image you included is the lower section of part 242. The white space between the grey printing on it should be built up the same as the rest of part 242. I guess I did not illustrate it all that well in the instructions.

TL;DR - Yes, build up the white space on the part in your image just like you would for the rest of 242. I screwed up in my instructions.

I hope that helps clarify things.

Rear Hull

I wasn't looking forward to putting this part together!
I have trouble getting box structures square!
Anyway I trial fitted the parts, and decided to remove all of the little taps which make up the raised panelling, making for a much better fit.
Overall I'm very pleased with how this went together, just the details to add and the rear to close.
I think my building skills are improving!
