Talking SurfDuke's B9 Robot Build

I am attempting to build my own B9 Robot that SurfDuke has so graciously shared with us. First I want to build a gray box version, and then maybe scale it up to add some lights or some kinda gimmick like that. You know how I like to gimmick up my builds

I used Inkscape to trace out a line only version of his design. Then I used that to make a cut file for my cutting machine. I transcribed all the pages, but only got the first page cut and assembled. All I could do today.

Here are some pics of the build so far...

Go baby go!

Inkscape is powerful and free!

Let me know if I can assist.

Fly safe!

BTW it looks awesome. I love the cutout indents to give better relief to details. I'll be following this one. The model started out as a repiant of the nude model that's been floating out there since Hitler was a corporal. I had to redaw for vector and modified the hell out it to fit my taste. It is only fitting that this should be a ever evolving offering. Consider it a community property lol.

Great work!

I'll be watching, too!
I loved ROBOT from Lost in Space. Growing up I thought Robbie was a poor ripoff (-=
I'm the type of detail fanatic that I'd want separate treads and the pleats in the legs and arms, which is why I haven't built one. Many times my demands for details far exceeds my ability. Which is why I spend so much more time just watching than doing.

Robbie came first in Forbidden Planet and The G.U.N.T.E.R. B9 was designed by the same fella. He was a washing machine designer before he got into props. That is why they both have the barrel shaped chest cavity.

As for detail...some around here might remember that I love a challenge...and can get so complicated even I can't build it if you want me to revisit this project at a later date ...LOL.

This fella is on the right track and I'll Try not to hi-jack the thread.

It's 5 by 5!

Thanks, I'm continuing on! I added some extra relief on the leg bellows and tracks. Building up the other parts as I go. Amateur tip: It would have been easier to wrap the strips around the bottom of the legs if I had done it before I assembled the bellows and base pieces...

Almost done with the prototype! I added some details to the design, sunk in the speaker light area and the front panel. Added some edge trim pieces and built up some relief on the arm bellows.
