New to Forum: Millennium Falcon first project
Hello all,
This is my first post since joining the forum a couple weeks ago. This is such a great place to get inspiration and help, so I can't wait to dive into my new hobby. For my first project, I started earlier this month, like so many, I built Shunichi Makino's fantastic version. A bit ambitious for my first project, but when I saw this on Pinterest, I knew I needed to give it a try. I learned a lot on my own while building it, but now that I found this forum I know that I'll be learning and building much more. So thank you in advance to all the expert builders on the forum, I know I'll be using you for inspiration and advice. |

Thanks Duke,
I'm not totally satisfied with the build, but for a first attempt at paper modeling, I'm happy. I shot my model at different angles and lighting, then did a little Photoshop magic to recreate the new visuals. I built this at 97% of the original model to fit on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, but I should have done the calculations and made it 1:100 scale. I think this ended up around 1:96 scale. I added some extra details to try before redoing this one at 1:100. I'm also contemplating changing all the dashed/dotted lines to solid - I don't like the way the dashes look on some of the more obvious fold lines. I'll also probably re-create the rectangular deflector dish from the new trilogy and maybe build the landing gear and entry ramp too. Thanks again for the reply. |

Great build. One of these days I'll get around to tackling it.

I would have to say that you did extremely well on a first build. I haven't built this one, yet. I also did not care for all the dotted lines and was trying to change them to solid gray lines, and never finished

Nice looking build. Some good photography too.
What I do sometimes to hide those dashed fold lines is to run a colored pencil over them after folding to make them less conspicuous. It works OK for the most part. The solid line is less eye catching.

Thanks for the tip. Even though I'm going to build another one, I'll practice on my current one to see how that works.
